Indicators and Solutions for Improperly Fitted Bra
Bra Rides Up the Back - Go down one bra size and up one
cup size.
Cup Spilling Over - Go up one cup size.
Wires Stick Out at the Front of the Bra - Go up one cup size.
Fitting - Make sure correct fit is on loosest hook.
Measuring Around for Size - Measure, with tape firm, around in inches
beneath your bust. Subtract 22 from total inches. This is the bra size.
Facts About Fitting
A Bra It is a fact that around 80% of women wear a wrong
fitting bra. Wearing a properly fitted bra will make a difference to how
you look and feel. The comfort factor is unbelievably different when you
have the correct fit.
Here's some common fitting problems with explanations
and the solution:
The Bra Rides Up Your Back - This is a
sign that the bra is too big for you. The bra has either stretched out
with old age or is simply too big, even though the cup may fit. Here's
an example: You have on a 20DD and the cup fits fine, but the bra rides
up your back. You need a size 18E, instead. Remember, if your bra is riding
up the back, this means that your bra will be dragging on your shoulders
as, you are getting no support from around your body. It can cause sore
shoulders and back.
Cup Spilling Over - This is a sign that
the cup size is too small for you. If the back fits perfectly, but you
have cup spillage, try going up one cup size. If lumps appear at any time
on the top sides or bottom when you are wearing the bra, then the cup
size is too small. Here's an example: You have a 20DD and the back feels
great, but you have spillage. You need a 20E.
Wires Sticking Out at the Front - This
is a sign that the cup size is too small for you. The breast is pushing
the cup forward and, hence, the underwire is traveling with it and protruding.
If you go up at least one cup fitting, the wire will fit closer to your
breast bone.
Best Fit
When purchasing a bra, make sure that the correct fit is
on the loosest hooks setting on the back of the bra. Most bras have 3
rows of hooks, so getting a proper fit at the last hook will allow you
to correct the fit as the bra stretches with age (and it will, all bras
do). This will give your bra more longevity.
Measuring for A Proper Fit As you well know, there are many
brands of bras on the market. Unfortunately, the cup sizes all fit differently,
depending on the brand. The bra size (what you are around), however, is
fairly uniform, so that can be measured with confidence.
1.) Get a measuring tape with inches
2.) Measure around your body, beneath the bust with the measuring tape
firm, but not tight
3.) Take that measurement in inches and subtract 22
4.) That will be your bra size (ex. - 50 inches = size 28 bra)
